Been a mother and have to find the right size of clothes for your babies sometimes could be a challenge. As an owner of a baby clothing brand, Tiny Boulevard, I recognize how difficult this problem is. That’s why I have found two different articles to help us to solve this common problem.
The article titled: “Baby clothes sizes: How to choose the correct clothing size for your infant.” Written by Kerry Weiss, talks about the fact that the babies come in all different shapes and sizes. She says that baby clothing sizes works by age, weight and length. Also, due that the babies grow fast and the shrink of the clothes thanks the constant laundry, is better to buy one size up than the actual baby size.
The second article, titled: “Baby clothing sizes, explained: What you need to know to shop for infants at every size.” By Nicole Fabian-Weber, says that all babies are different sizes regardless their age, so it is hard to create a rule when it comes to baby clothing sizes, especially when all the brand’s sizes and labels are a little different. Nicole explained that a fast guide rule that parents could follow is taking the size tag number as an “up to”. This means if your baby is 3 months old you should not buy the 0-3 months size, you should buy the 3-6 months size so your baby has space to grow.
After reading and analyzing both articles and my experience as a baby clothing brand owner, dealing with this kind of problem personally. I have reached 3 recommendations for the mothers and fathers that are facing these complications and need some guidance:
- Label Size – Every time that you look at the labels of the clothes that you are buying for your baby, think in the number as an “up to”, so you have a range and know if it would fit your little one or not.
- Brands Size Chart – All the different brands have their own size chart, and usually they are not the same actual size. Before you buy, check the different size charts on their websites of the brands that you are interested in and take the necessary measures of your baby, so you can have an idea how long or short it would fit.
- Clothes Material – Consider the variety of fabric types, the cotton is soft and comfortable but it is prone to shrinkage due the constant laundries. You should consider to go up a size or take in count different materials that are more resistant to shrink, all depend on your necessities.
To finish this blog, you should to start at paying more attention to the little details, like clothe materials or how fast your baby is growing, to choose the right option when it comes to dress your little ones. Don’t be afraid to ask for an advice to other mothers or friend if they have been in this road before, they could help you and make it easier for you.
